Nate Boyer Verbally Commits to Purdue University Northwest

Nate Boyer, a 2019 left handed pitcher from Oak Park River Forest, has verbally committed to Purdie University Northwe

Nate came to our program and immediately made an impact. He pitched held a very talent White Sox Ace team in check in the round of 16 at Perfect Game Kernels this fall. 

On the mound Nate does not possess blow it by you velocity, but he is deceptive, knows how to pitch and utilized an above average breaking ball. 

PNW is coached by Dave Griffin who is in his 3rd year. In his first year he went 30-18. During his playing days he was a NAIA First Team All-American and played professionally for a number of minor league teams. 

PNW is a Division II program and competes in the GLIAC which has the likes of Grand Valley State, Ashland, Northwood, Davenport, and Parkside.

Congrats Nate!

Jack Vrba Verbally Commits to Concordia Ann Arbor

Jack Vrba, a 2019 right handed pitcher from Lockport Township HS, has verbally committed to Concordia University Ann Arbor. 

We have seen Jack become a young man in front of our eyes as he has been in the program for many years. 

On the mound Jack has a frame that has upside and a lively arm. He hides the ball well in his delivery and has an arm slot that results in some run on his ball. 

Last year CUAA went 34-22 and currently this year they are 16-6. 

Vrba will be coached by Zach Johnston who is in his 5th year as head coach and has a record of 129-92. Coach Johnston is also a Hall of Fame member at CUAA as a player. 

The NAIA program competes against the like of UNOH, Indiana Tech and Cornerstone in their conference. 

With his committment, Jack becomes the 26th in our 2019 class and 141st overall since 2013.

Tyler Struck Verbally Commits to Valpo

Tyler Struck, a 2019 catcher from Providence Catholic HS, has verbally committed to Valparaiso University. 

Tyler has been in our program since he was 14 years old. We have been able to see him grow into a great young man who works very hard at his craft. 

Not only is he a hard worker on the baseball side but he also sports a 4.0 GPA and 34 ACT. 

Tyler has worked hard over the last couple of years adding strength and he has one of the stronger arms behind the dish in the area. 

While at Valpo Tyler will be coached by Brian Schmack who is in his 6th year as head coach at Valpo. 

Valpo competes in the Missouri Valley Conference with the likes of Indiana State, Dallas Baptist, Illinois State, Southern Illinois, Bradley, Evansville and Missouri State. 

Tyler was given a 8.5 grade by Perfect Game and named to the 2017 Great Lakes Showcase Top Prospect List.

PG also has him ranked as the 9th best catcher in Illinois and 89th overall player. 

Tyler had some very hard decisions to make with the opportunities that he had in front of him, but at the end of the day he decided to choose the best academic and athletic route for himself. 

Couldn't be more proud of Tyler and excited to see him continue to grow and prosper as a young man.

Zach Czub Verbally Commits to Moraine Valley CC

Zach Czub, a 2019 INF from Lemont HS, has verbally committed to Moraine Valley CC. 

Zach came to our program just this year and has worked hard in that time to become a better player. 

Also in our program is Zach's younger brother who we are excited to see grow over the next fe years. 

Moraine Valley went 17-29 last year (8-12 in conference) against a very competitive schedule including Wabash Valley, Madison Area Tech, Oakton CC and Kankakee CC. 

Zach will be coached by Hugh Dennehy who took over as head coach in 2016. His assistant is General McArthur who coaches in the Rhino program. 

When he gets to MVCC Zach will be teamates with Rhino players Alex Martinez and Luke Bentley. 

With Zach's committment he becomes the 23rd Rhino player in the 2019 class to commit and the 139th player since 2013.

Collin Woulfe Verbally Commits to Saint Xavier

Collin Woulfe, a 2019 OF from Lockport HS, has verbally committed to Saint Xavier University. 

Collin is an original Rhino, playing in the program since our first year. 

Overall Collin is a very toolsy player. He possesses 6.6 speed, has a cannon of an arm from the OF and has shown the ability to put the ball out. 

He will be coached by Rocco Mossuto who is in his 5th season at the helm.

Last year the team went 25-29 including 18-12 in conference play.

Coach Rocco has coached Rhino alumns Cam Powell and Max Downs. 

With Collin's committment he becomes the 22nd Rhino player in the 2019 class to commit and the 138th player since 2013.

Josh Bentley Verbally Commits to South Suburban College

Josh Bentley, a 2019 infielder from Lockport HS, has verbally committed to South Suburban College. 

At the plate, Josh always seems to barrell balls up, even on his outs. In the field Josh has a solid glove and if he can improve his arm strength can be a guy who can play multiple positions in the infield. 

South Suburban is coach by Steve Ruzich who has been there for over 30 years. Coach Ruzich has seen a number of high quailty young men go to his program from Rhino including Joe Tor, Colin Walton and Stephen Hill (currently at DI Morehead State). 

Coach Ruzich has seen 24 of his players drafted and six of them who have reached the MLB. 

With Josh's committment he becomes the 21st Rhino player in the 2019 class to commit and the 138th player since 2013. 

Congrats Josh! Coach Ru is getting a good one. 

 

Jake Dirksen Verbally Commits to Kalamazoo Valley CC

Jake Dirksen, a 2019 RHP from Oswego East, has verbally committed to Kalamazoo Valley CC. 

On the mound, Jake is extremely athletic and can get his fastball into the low 80's. 

He was a huge contributor in Rhino Baseball's fall team finishing in the top 16 at the WWBA Kernals Foundation Championship. He started game 1 and pitched a complete game shutout. 

Kalamazoo Valley has taken a liking to Rhino Baseball players as Jake will be follwing in the footsteps of Rhino alumns Cody McArthur, Pat McGowan, Scott Alroth and Jimmy Cook (NJCAA Region 12 Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner).

Jake will be coached by Cody Piechocki who will be in his seventh season at KVCC. In 2016 he saw his team ranked as high as #19 in the NJCAA DII Poll. 

Coach Piechocki also is going into his 3rd year as the Field Manager of the Kalamazoo Growlers of the pretigious Northwoods League. He coached Rhino alum Anthony Cocco last year with the Growlers. The NWL is considered one of the top summer college leagues in the country for players. 

With Jake's comittment he becomes the 20th Rhino player in the 2019 class to commit and the 137th player since 2013.

Max Cullen Verbally Commits to Loras College

Max Cullen, a 2019 1B from Joliet Catholic Academy, has verbally committed to Loras College. 

When you think of a great young man, Max immediately comes to mind. He is humble, hard working, awesome teammate and a great student. 

I always say Max's game isn't the prettiest but he is an absolute gamer. Always seems to find the barrell, even on his outs. 

Loras went 25-15 last year which included a 6-4 loss to Iowa. Max will be coached by Carl Tebon who is in his 24th season at Loras. Coach Tebon has won over 517 games.

The greatest part of Max's committment is he will not have to pay a dime for his college education. 

With his committment, Max becomes the 19th Rhino player in the 2019 class to commit and the 136th player since 2013.

Luke Bentley Verbally Commits to Moraine Valley CC

Luke Bentley, a 2019 INF/RHP from Lockport HS, has verbally committed to Moraine Valley CC. 

Over the last few years Luke has worked extremely hard and has changed his body around and has become a nice asset in our program. 

He is a solid 3B and also come in to throw quaility innings with his multiple arm slots. 

Moraine Valley went 17-29 last year (8-12 in conference) against a very competitive schedule including Wabash Valley, Madison Area Tech, Oakton CC and Kankakee CC. 

Luke will be coached by Hugh Dennehy who took over as head coach in 2016. His assistant is General McArthur who coaches in the Rhino program and was Luke's coach this past season. 

While at Morraine, Luke will continue to be teammates with Alex Martinez. Alex also plays at Lockport and was teammates with Luke last year with Rhino Baseball.

With his committment, Luke becomes the 18th Rhino player in the 2019 class to commit and the 135th player since 2013.

'22 Nick Kolze Gets Nationally Ranked in his Class at 1B

Congrats to '22 1B/RHP Nick Kolze on being nationally ranked by Perfect Game. 

Nick stand at 6'2" and 185lbs. He has been up to 81mph of the mound and is in the low 90's for his exit velo with a very easy swing. Most importantly, he boasts a 4.30 GPA. 

His dad wrote, "I honestly feel that Nick's performance in baseball has elevated since our joining Rhino. As Parents, June and I are extremely please with Rhino, its staff and the families whom play under the Rhino logo."

Nick started to garner national attention when he hit .750 with a double and a HR at the PG WWBA Freshman Midwest Championship. 

Joining Nick in Perfect Game recognition is Rhino teammates Abram Wills ('22 RHP/UTIL) as a High Follow and Matt Merk ('22 C) as a follow. 

The '22 class is strong in Rhino Baseball and you should see a number of more names start to be added to that list.

Bret Whiffen Verbally Commits to William Penn University

Bret Whiffen, a 2019 INF from Green Bay Southwest HS, has verbally comitted to William Penn University. 

Whiff is a great example of being a great teammate playing anywhere on the field to help the team, picking up his teammates and leading by exmaple showing his outstanding work ethic and determination. 

He has been a part of the Rhino Wisco program since day 1. He uses the facility access to get in more reps on his own and rarely missed a practice over the last 4 years. 

Bret will be coached by Mike Laird who is in his 37th season at the helm. Coach Laird is nearing his 1000th win as he is 981-560-3 in his tenure at William Penn. 

During his years Coach Laird has seen 50 of his former players go onto be drafted and/or sign to professional contracts. 

Bret's committment makes him the 17th Rhino in the 2019 class and 134th overall player since 2013.

Colin Olkiewicz Verbally Commits to UW-Oshkosh

Colin Olkiewicz, a 2019 OF from Minooka HS, has verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. 

Colin has been with the Rhino program since it's beginning years. 

A supurb athlete, Colin is a very toolsy player. He runs a sub 6.9, has mid 90's exit velo and low 80's from a crow hop. He is currrently ranked 169th overall in Illinois by Prep Baseball Report. 

Colin will be joining fellow Rhino teammate Jackson Mladic at UWO. 

They will be coached by Kevin Tomasiewicz who is going into his fifth season as the head coach and led the team to a 34-10 record in 2018. 

Coach Kevin was a pitcher at UW-Whitewater where he was named to the WIAC All-Centennial Team and selected in the 26th round of the 2005 MLB Draft. 

Colin joins 15 other Rhino players in the 2019 class that have committed and becomes the 133rd players since 2013 to commit in our program.

Alex Martinez Commits to Moraine Valley CC

Alex Martinez, a 2019 INF from Lockport HS, has committed to Moraine Valley CC. 

There may not be a more well liked player in our program than Alex. He is the epitome of a great teammate. He works very hard at his craft and has an acute awareness for the game. 

At the plate he very rarely has a bad at bat and alway brings a compeitive approach to the dish.

Moraine Valley went 17-29 last year (8-12 in conference) against a very competiive schedule including Wabash Valley, Madison Area Tech, Oakton CC and Kankakee CC. 

Alex will be coached by Hugh Dennehy who took over as head coach in 2016. His assistant is General McArthur who coaches in the Rhino program and was Alex's head coach this past Rhino season. 

With his committment, Alex becomes the 15th Rhino player in the 2019 class to commit and 132nd player since 2013.
