Nov 16

Danny FIerro, a 2018 infielder from Reed Custer HS, has verbally committed to Joliet Junior College!

As a sophomore Danny helped Reed Custer win a state championship which helped Danny experience big game pressure at a young age.

A very confident young man, Danny has upside to his frame and lives and breathes baseball.

At JJC, Danny will be coached by Wayne King who is in his 32nd season as head coach. He has three NJCAA National Championships in his trophy collection including most recently in 2012.

Danny will join Rhino alumns Joe McGuire (2nd team DIII All-Region), Jake Brnca and Matt Sonntag (Valpo transfer) who are currently at JJC.

Very excited for Danny to be at a quality program such as JJC. Congrats!

Bryan Fox Verball Commits to Roosevelt University!
Nov 16

Bryan Fox, a 2018 catcher from Lockport Township HS, has verbally committed to Roosevely University!

You could not find a better young man and leader out there than Bryan. His upbeat persoanlity is infectious and it carries over into the way he plays the game and works for his pitchers.

Over the last few years Bryan has continually gotten better in the program and has turned himself into a really solid baseball player.

Bryan had a number of schools who really wanted him for their program, but Roosevelt was the place Bryan wanted to be at.

While there he will be coached by Steve Marchi who is in his 8th season at the helm and the only head coach in Roosevelt's existance as a baseball program.

Bryan will also be joining a number of Rhino alumns including fellow catcher Jake Hutchinson, Jake Barlev and Alvin Perez.

Roosevelt plays at the beautiful Windy City Thunderbolts stadium which is turfed and has a stadium like feel.

It is an enjoyable experience to see a young man go through the program for a number of years, improve the way Bryan has and ultimately see him off to college.

Congrats Bryan!

Tanner Walls Verbally Commits to Kankakee CC!
Nov 16

Tanner Walls, a 2018 RHP/OF from Pontiac HS, has verbally committed to Kankakee CC.

Coming to the program just this year, Tanner makes the trek from Pontiac for every single practice which can take sometimes nearly 2 hours.

Tanner has a very athletic frame and a lively arm and is a hard working young man.

He will be joining a team that in 2017 was the NJCAA DII National Champions!

Tanner's commitmtnet continues a good relationship between Rhino Baseball and KCC as there were three Rhino alumns on the National Championship team.

Whle at KCC, Tanner will be coached by Todd Post. Coach Post just completed his 17th season as head coach of the Cavaliers and has more than twice as many wins than losses in the books (710-322-6).

Congrats Tanner!

Rich Jesse Verbally Commits to UW Platteville!
Oct 30

IMG 8859

Rich Jesse, a 2018 RHP from Lockport Township HS, has verbally committed to UW Plattville.

Very young for his grade, Rich is a guy who lives in the Rhino facility. He is constantly looking to improve his game and puts in the work. He has quite a bit of upside with his 6'3" 205lb frame and with him being so young for his grade. He lives in the 78-80 range, has topped out at 82 and has room for plenty more.

Rich took all of the recruiting classes Rhino Baseball hold to heart. He took charge of his future and knew that UW Platteville was a target schools of his due to his intended major.

At UW Plattville, Rich will play for Coach Frese who is in his 12th season as the head coach of the DIII program.

Coach Frese is the all-time winningest coach in the history of the program

The Pioneers play at Kendell Murray Field which was built in 2007. The team plays in the WIAC against the likes of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Wisconsin-La Crosse and Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Congrats Rich!

Nick Shelton Verbally Commits to Heartland CC!
Oct 30

IMG 8856

Nick Shelton, a 2018 RHP from Carl Sandburg HS, has verbally committed to Heartland Community College!

A different story than most, Nick came to us a couple of year ago in a tryout as a second baseman. Immediately we told him that his sole focus will be as a pitcher.

Nick did not make his HS team his junior year but Rhino Baseball continued to work on his mechanics and his mental game as he has rare attributes including size, arm speed and ability to spin the baseball. We have seen tremendous growth out of this young man with much more growth to come.

Nick, who stands at 6'4" and 180lbs, has just started to scratch his enormous potential and topped out at 91mph this summer and is beggining to become a pitcher.

He is incredibly long limbed and very athletic for his size. He also runs track and is a wide receiver for the football team.

NIck had multiple DI schools showing major interest but Nick wanted to go the junior college route to continue to develop those attributes that he posseses.

Having offers from some of the best junior colleges in the country Nick fell in love with Heartland and what they had to offer in terms of schooling and baseball.

We are very excited to see Nick continue to learn how to become a pitcher and see his potential continue to be reached. He is the exact type of player when you think of projectability and the sky is the limit for him.

Congrats NIck!

Blake Harseim Verbally Commits to Heartland CC!
Oct 18

IMG 8724

Blake Harseim, a 2018 RHP/INF from Coal City HS, has verbally committed to Heartland Community College!

Incredibly blue collared, Blake is a kid who quietly goes about his business. He is a gym junkie and has excelled in three sports in high school.

On the mound Blake can get his fastball to the mid 80's and pounds the zone. At the plate he has a repeatable swing with some pop.

Being a three sport athlete Blake has quite a bit of upside once he begins to focus on just baseball. Also, physically he may see more size than his 6'1" frame has right now.

Heartland Community College has had a run of really solid players from the Rhino program including current Freshman Mike Wagner and  will be seeing McKinley Keenan there next year as well.

Very excited to see Blake start to get closer to his potential that we all know he has once he focuses on baseball.

Congrats kid!

McKinley Keenan Verbally Commits to Heartland CC!
Sep 26

IMG 8584

McKinley Keenan, a 2018 C from Herscher HS, has verbally commited to Heartland Community College!

One of my all time favorite players in the program, McKinley is an extremely humble and hard working young man.

On the field he has only been catching for a couple of years but already is a very good defensive catcher with an arm that plays. At the plate he shows quite a bit of pop where he hit 5 HR's junior year at Herscher.

McKinley will be joining Rhino alumn Mike Wagner at Heartland and will be coached by Brian Furlong. Coach Furlong was the pitching coach at Creighton and the Director of Baseball at Iowa before taking over at Heartland.

Heartland has been known to develop players and help them go onto 4 year schools. In 2016 alone they saw players go to Illinois State, Mississippi State, Auburn, Western Illinois and Southereastern Louisiana to name a few.

Very excited to see McKinley go to a place where he will continue to develop over the next two years. Great to get texts from guys saying "I know it's the best fit for me".

Congrats McKinley!

Ryan Kaup Verbally Commits to Wabash Valley College!
Sep 15

IMG 8476

Ryan Kaup, a 2018 LHH MIF from Providence Catholic HS, has verbally committed to Wabash Valley College!

As a junior, Ryan really shined at Providence Catholic where he started at shortstop and received First Team All-Area Honors.

A solid all around player Ryan has a nice lefty stroke and hit for high average both for Providence and for us this summer. Defensively he has soft hands and an arm slot that works well for the middle infield position.

Ryan will be joining Rhino alumns Chad Cwik, Gavin Lovesky and Zach Carney at Wabash.

All of these guys are coached by Rob Fournier who has been at Wabash for more than 20 seasons and has seen over 50 of his players go on and play for Division I programs.

Last year Coach Fornier saw his team go 50-15 and 13 of his plyers go onto play at Division I porgrams including Louisville, Kentucky, Purdue and Georgetown. He also saw 4 of those players drafted.

When you start to get to know coaches much more year after year you learn things about them and the biggest thing that stands out about Coach Fornier is that he truly seems like he cares about his players both academicaly, personally, and athletically.

We are very excited to have Ryan continue his baseball and academic career at Wabash. A very good fit for a great young man.

Congrats Kauper.

Jon Zacharias Verbally Commits to Cornell University!
Jun 14

IMG 7613

Jon Zacharias, a 2018 RHP from Notre Dame Prep HS in Wiscosnin, has verbally committed to Cornell University!

Jon, at 6'4" 200lb, has continually increased his velocity throughout the last couple years and is now up to 86 in game. There is little doubt that he will be upper 80's+ when he gets to Cornell his freshman year. He has plus movment and understand how to pitch.

Obviously in the classroom he is a great student with a 3.9 GPA and a 31 ACT.

Jon will be coached by Dan Pepicelli who will be entering his third season at Cornell. Coach Pepicelli came from Clemson where he was the pitching coach for six seasons which includes three as the associate head coach. He saw 10 of his pitchers at Clemson selected in the MLB Draft.

Last season Coach Pepicelli led Cornell to a 21-17 overall record including a win over Michigan State.

Jon becomes the 101st college commit since Rhino Baseball start in 2013. He joins Eli Kramer, a 2019 Nebraska commit, as the most recent DI commits from our Wisconsin program.

Cornell was a top choice for Jon and couldnt be more thrilled that it is the place he will call home for the next 4 years.

Congrats Jon, such a great fit!

Concordia-Chicago Talks With Rhino Players Before CWS
May 25

18699891 1271221266327693 2560884912449577575 n

Concordia University-Chicago headed up to Appleton, Wisconsin to begin their quest to win the DIII College World Series.

CUC has two Rhino alumns on their roster, Mike Formella and Ryan Tishka.

With our Wisconsin facility also being in Appleton, we invited the CUC team in to practice. Before their practice started they were gracious enough to sit down with some of our players aged 11-14 and talk about some life lessons with them.

After the talk the players were able to watch a high level college baseball team practice and how they go about their business. For our players to be able to be up close and personal with the players and staff is an experience they will never forget and an invaluable one as well.

To read more about the visit please click HERE

Big thank you to CUC and their staff for taking the time out for aspiring college baseball players.

Good luck at the CWS!

Mother's Day Brings Boatload of Hardware for Rhino Teams
May 16

IMG 7071 IMG 7072
IMG 7073 IMG 7075

Mother's Day weekend turned out to be a very successful one for Rhino teams.

The priority of the weekend was to celebrate our wonderful mothers. The second priority was to bring home some hardware.

Those priorities were accomplished!

7u: Both 7u teams won their Sunday games by scores of 2-0 and 1-0 which is incredibly impressive to have such scores at that age.

8u: Runner-ups Fox Valley Freedom Fest

10u North: Champs Ho Chunk Mother's Day Classic

11u: Runner-ups GameDay USA Battle for the Beef

11u Wisco: Runner-ups Seminole Sports Mother's Day Classic

13u North: Runner-ups GamDay USA Battle for the Beef

13u East: Champs Team Exposure Mother's Day Bash

13u South: Runner-ups 8th Annual Oswego Panther Prowl

Thank you to all the moms out there. Many times that job of a mom goes very unrecognized, but you are truly the steam that makes the engine run in most households.

Heck of a weekend by our guys. Those results make 96 first place finishes and 82 second place finishes in the short history of Rhino Baseball.

Justin Sanders Verbally Commits to Alma College!
Apr 25

IMG 6605

Justin Sanders, a 2017 LHP from Appleton North HS, has verbally committed to Alma College!

Justin is by no means a physically enforcing player on the mound but he is a fantastic game pitcher who can keep some of the best teams out there off balance.

The Scots are coached by Jake Sabol who is in his second year as head coach at Alma.

In his first year at the helm, Coach Sabol led the Scots to a school record of 28 wins.

Being a pitcher, Justin will be able to work with Coach Sabol who was a weekend starter for Central Michigan and was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2011.

Justin becomes the 29th player in our 2017 class alone to commit to play college baseball next year, including every senior that plays in the Rhino Wisconsin program.

Congrats Justin, very excited for you!
