Robert Farrell Verbally Commits to Missouri Western State University
Nov 12

IMG 3489

Robert Farrell, a 2019 LHP from Joliet Central HS, has verbally committed to DII Missouri Western State University.

What he lacks in physical size he more than makes up for in pitchability and moxy on the mound. Robert possesses the ability to throw an plus breaking ball in any count which makes his 80 mph fastball get on hitters quick. He knows how to pitch and never backs down from a big moment.

Robert has always been one of my favorite pitchers to ever watch because some of the more talented teams he faced this summer had no idea what was coming when he stepped on the mound. You can ask Rake City  (7IP, 0 ER, 7K), Team Indiana (6IP, 10K, 3 ER) or US Elite (3.2IP and 8 K).

MWSU is coached by Buzz Verduzco who will be going into his 20th season there and is 533-390. Coach Verduzco has seen three of his player's drafted in thre MLB draft. Before coming to to MWSU he was an assistant coach at Washington State University.

The Kansas City Chiefs call MWSU their summer training camp home which allows for unbelievable faciltiies that players such as Robert are able to utilize.

Robert will be joining Rhino alumn Jordan Jackson at MWSU who is a redshirt freshman. Robert, standing at about 5'7" and 140lbs, is about as opposite, physically, as you can get  than Jordan Jackson who is 6'2" and 230lbs but their work ethic, morals and results on the field are nearly identical.

Could not be more excited for Robert. The coaches at MWSU knew exactly the type of game Robert has and didn't care that he wasn't mid 80's or 6'2. They knew he was a gamer and makes high end hitters look silly.

Congrats Robert! Go out there and prove any doubters wrong!

MJ Stavola Verbally Commits to Indiana Wesleyan
Nov 05

IMG 3339

MJ Stavola, a 2019 OF/LHP from Aurora Christian HS, has verbally committed to Indiana Wesleyan University.

MJ is coming off of a state championship run with his high school where he was the leadoff hitter and center fielder.

A gifted athlete overall, MJ has a plus arm from the outfield (90+) and is a very instinctual player. He has patience at the plate and will be looking to add on more size and strength at IWU.

Rich Benjamin is the head coach at IWU and will be going into his 4th year.

In his first year as head coach the Wildcats went to the NAIA National Championship. and repeated that feat this past year (37-20 overall and 20-6 in conference).

MJ is in great hands as Coach Benjamin has an uncanny knack for knowing the exact type of players he recruits into the program at IWU. They recruit only high character young men and MJ fits that bill to a tee.

Incredibly excited to see the bright future ahead of MJ and to see it in a program where he has every opportunity to grow both as a young men and as a baseball player.

Congrats!

Oct 23

IMG 3258

Tony Fleischauer, a 2019 INF/C from Joliet Catholic Academy, has verbally committed to Grand Valley State University.

Tony is a left handed hitter that possesses a strong barrel, a plus arm and good size that has more upside. He is coming off of a fantastic junior year at JCA where he started behind the dish.

Through the recruiting process Tony had a number of options but Grand Valley became his number 1 choice. They saw him play late into the fall at our double header unsigned senior game against the Illinois Indians.

GVSU plays in the GLIAC and overall went 28-23 last year. Tony will be teammates with Rhino alumn Anthony Cocco and will battle against Rhino alumns Buzz BeDell (Tiffin) and Matt Littrell (Ashland) who are both in the conference.

The head coach of GVSU is Jamie Detillion who will be in his 9th season at the helm. In his first year in 2013 Coach Detillion led his team to the DII CWS and finished third. Overall he is 178-91-1 and a fantastic 106-47 in conference play.

Very excited for Tony and his committment to GVSU. Truly believe this is a great fit for him and couldnt be more excited to see him continue to climb towards his very high ceiling.

Congrats Tony!

Sep 24

IMG 2923

Dylan Szajkovcs, a 2019 RHP from Plainfield North HS, has verbally committed to University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

In his first few years in the program Dylan also played shortstop but eventually focused on just pitching and never looked back (besides his occasional "look at me" swings in the cage).

Dylan has continued to improve year after year which is a testament to his hard work and determination. He has seen over a 10mph increase in his fastball velocity in 2 years (76 to 89).

While at UWM, Dylan will be seeing a familiar face in Rhino alum Mikey Edwards. Mikey will be a sophomore this coming year and as a freshman pitched 29.1 innings with a 2.45 ERA , 24K's and only 8BB.

Scott Doffek will be coaching Dylan at UWM. Coach Doffek is going into his 12th year as head coach of the Panthers and 24th overall. In his years coaching he has seen a number of his players get drafted to the MLB.

Great to see your hard work and determination pay off Dylan. Congrats!

IMG 2887

Brennan Geers, a 2019 1B/LHP from Providence Catholic HS has verbally committed to Triton College.

Standing at 6'4" and 200lbs Brennan is an overal athlete and plays multi sports for Providence.

There is a lot of untapped potential with Brennan both at the plate and on the mound, where he lives in the low 80's. He is a plus defender at first base.

While at Triton, Brennan will be coach by Harry Torgerson who is in his 14th season as head coach there. In those 14 seasons he has seen 8 of his players sign professional contracts.

Last year Triton finished with  34-26 record advancing past the NJCAA Region IV Division I Tournament and ultimately losing in the NJCAA Division I Northern District Tournament.

Limits are endless for you.

Sep 18

IMG 2870

Sep 05

IMG 2802

Zach Stoner, a 2019 infielder from Minooka HS, has verbally comitted to Benedictine University.

At Minooka, Zach starts at 3B and for us in the summer plays 3B as well as 2B. Over the past year Zach has dedicated himself to the weightroom and the physcial results have shown.

On the field Zach is a sure handed fielder that is instinctual and really allows the game to come to him instead of forcing it. At the plate, Zach swings with intent and looks to drive the ball every opportunity he gets.

Zach wil be joining recently committed pitcher Joe Tor who is also committed to the currently transitioning DII program.

While at Benedictine, Zach will be coached by Adam Smith. Coach Smith has been the head coach since 2016 & has three consecutive winning seasons in the NACC. Previously Coach Smith was an assistant at Concordia Chicago where he was a part of four NCAA Regional appearences.

New to the program just this past year Joe has bought in and has seen a large increase in his velocity over the past year. He has seen a 5 mph jump over the last year going from low 80's to now touching 86.

Joe is a gym rat and brings a bulldog type mentality to the mound. He is a joy to be around and has a dry sense of humor that everyone loves.

Benedictine is currently transitioning to the DII level from the DIII level and Joe will look to help them become sucessfull in that transition right off the bat.

While at Benedictine, Joe will be coached by Adam Smith. Coach Smith has been the head coach since 2016 and has three consecutive winning seasons in the NACC. Previously Coach Smith was an assistant at Concordia Chicago where he was a part of four NCAA Regional appearences.

Josh Loomis Verbally Commits to Rock Valley College
Aug 21

IMG 2661

Josh Loomis, a 2019 RHP from Reed Custer HS, has verbally committed to Rock Valley College.

Adding to a growing list of good pitchers coming out of Reed Custer, Josh joins the likes of Rhino alumns Brent Headrick (Illinois State), Jordan Walden (EIU to Parkland) and Eddie Wilkins (UIS) to go on and pitch at the next level.

Rock Valley is coming off of a 34-22 season in 2018. Coach Chad Herren took over the top spot in the fall of 2016 and in 2018 won the N4C Conference Coach of the Year award.

Coach Herren has seen three of his players go on and play professionally in his coaching career and in just his first year at Rock Valley he sent 8 players onto 4 year programs.

Josh has taken the closer type role for Rhino Baseball and ran with it the last couple of years. His mentality fit perfect for that role. An overall athlete playing 3 sports at Reed Custer, Josh is currently a low 80's arm and can control the strikezone.

Excited for Josh and to see his upward trajectory as he goes to college and focuses on just pitching.
