In the semi-finals our boys faced the Bolingbrook rampage which ended in a tight 9-7 victory for the Rhinos.

The McHenry Hurricanes wound up winning the championship in an 8-12 game against our 11U West team.

Very proud of this team to come back after an opening game loss and make it to the championship game!

Matt Pattison Signs with Aurora University!
May 10

pattison signing 2
Matt Pattison, class of 2013, signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Aurora University.

Matt is a senior who attends Lockport Township High School. When you see Matt play, he is a very smooth and controlled player. His game is very polished as he is fundamentally sound in the outfield with an 80 MPH arm. He also has a very smooth right handed swing which is helped by his quick hands. Matt has the ability to drive the ball from gap to gap despite his size at 5'9" and 145 pounds.

Aurora University is coming off of an impressive season last year by posting a 38-10 record and in the preseason of this year were ranked 24th in the country for Division III. Matt will be competing against the likes of Lakeland College, Marian University, and Benedictine University.

We are all very excited for Matt and his family for his opportunity to play collegiant baseball at Aurora University!

Congrats from us all at Rhino Baseball!

Thomas Goodyear Signs with JJC!
May 10

goodyear signing 2
Thomas Goodyear, class of 203, signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Joliet Junior College.

Thomas is a senior right handed pitcher who attends Romeoville High school. For the Spartans, Thomas is 3-3 with one save, and is throwing a respectible 3.08 ERA. Through 38 innings Thomas has struck out 23 batters and displays a 86 MPH fastball.

Thomas is a young senior, and has a lot of room for continued growth. At only 153 pounds but 6 feet tall, his body has much more room to get bigger and stronger and we believe his velocity will continue to get higher, eventually throwing over 90 MPH.

Joliet Junior College is the reigning NJCAA Divsion III National Champions. JJC has a long history of baseball sucess as they have won the World Series title in 1994, 2008, and most recently 2012. Not only do the wins stack up for JJC, but their ability to help their players continue onto Division  I schools is impressive as well. From he 2012 National Championship team, JJC had three players continue onto Division I schools.

We are very excited for both Thomas and his family. JJC is receiving a very hard working and huimble player in Thomas and we see nothing but great thing ahead in both his life and in baseball.

Congrats Thomas!

Mac Leske Signs with Lewis & Clark Community College!
May 10

leske signing
McKinley "Mac" Leske, class of 2013, signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Lewis & Clark Community College.

Mac is a senior who attends Lincoln Way Central High School and has had a solid senior year. Through 14 games he is hitting .405 with 4 doubles and 12 RBI. He plays SS for the Knights but projects as a corner infielder in college as he is 6'2" and 200 pounds. Mac displays a nice glove for his size and has gap to gap power displayed by his 4 doubles midway through his high school season.

Lewis & Clark is a community college located in Godfrey, Illinois which is conviently located right outside of Edwardsville and St. Louis. The baseball program is lead by Head Coach Randy Martz who was the 12th overall pick of the Chicago Cubs in 1977. This season is his 21st at Lewis & Clark where he has a 410-380 record. The program has a history of having quality players which includes Jason Isringhausen who played with the Cardinals, Mets, Athletics, Rays, and Angels while in the majors.

We are very excited for Mac and his family. All of us here at Rhino Baseball are looking forward to seeing Mac play at the next level where we believe he will be very successful because of how hard of a worker he is.

Again, congrats Mac from all of us at Rhino Baseball!

2013 Rhino Baseball Team Captains!
Mar 26

captains 2013

Congratulations to those selected as Rhino team captains for the 2013 season!

This is a very special privilege and should not be taken lightly. We feel that the players should be ones to lead a team and not necessarily always the coaches.

Wear the "C" proudly and make sure that your team is properly representing Rhino Baseeball and what we stand for.

For all the other players in the organization, just because you may not have the "C" on your arm doesn't mean you should not strive to lead your team any way you can. We want all players to become leaders!

William Herkel Signs with Bellevue University!
Feb 28

will smiling

William Herkel, class of 2013, signed his letter of intent to Bellevue University.

Rhino Baseball is very excited to announce that we have sent our first Rhino player to the next level. William is a right handed pitcher who plays on the 18U team for Coach Chris Tierney.

William had numerous colleges interested in him for his pitching ability along with his upside potential as he is a 6'3" pitcher who mixes in a nice aray of off-speed pitches. William took a visit to Bellevue where he immediately fell in love with the school and coaches.

Bellevue University, located just outside of Omaha, Nebraska, is a private institution founded in 1966. It is a great academics school with business and commerce degrees being their most popular majors. Bellevue was ranked in the top 20 schools nationwide by Leadership Excellence magazine for developing leaders along with the likes of MIT, Northwestern, and Harvard.

Their baseball program, just like the academics, is top notch.

The Bellevue Bruins baseball program is ranked 17th in the country in the latest preseason poll for NAIA schools and they have 15 NAIA National Tournament appearences. In 2012 they were 40-21 and are selected in the preseason polls to win their conference (MCAC) in 2013.

We could not be happier for William and his family. Bellevue is receiving a great pitcher and an even better young man.

Once again, congrats William from all of us at Rhino Baseball!

Congrats to Rhinos Selected for USSSA All-American and Tri-State Games!

Chris Tierney's Private Pitching Lessons
Jan 23

Chris Pitch pro 1

Chris Tierney, Director of Pitching for Rhino Baseball, is holding private pitching lessons when he is not working with Rhino teams.

Chris (known by the players as Coach T-REX) has years of pitching experience playing in the minors for multiple teams and being drafted straight out of high school, bypassing an opportunity to play for Arkansas University in the SEC.

To get to know Chris and his background a bit more, and to learn about his phiolosphies and gameplan with pitchers, please click the picture to the left or click on the following PDF link:

Chris Tierney's Private Pitching Lesson Profile

We are extremely happy with the work Chris has done with our pitchers in a team setting but we strongly suggest working with Chris in private lessons for players to get the additional time needed to really excel at their craft.

11U Champs of Troy Wood Bat Classic
Oct 26

644047 284420201674476 1749259218 nThe 11U Fall Ball Rhinos came out of the 2012 Troy Wood Bat Classic as champions.

Our boys beat St. Joes 3-2 in the championship game behind a dominant, complete game, pitching performance by Brenden Slota.

Vytas Valincus led his team to the championship game by throwing a no-hitter in the semifinals and defeating the Troy Titans by an 8-0 score.

The Troy Wood Bat Classic was a great experience for our young Rhinos where they were able to hit with wood bats in the games, which for many of them this was a first.

Congrats to all of our players on the 11U Fall Ball team.
