Noah Masa Throws No Hitter in Top Collegiate Prospects Invite!
Jul 12

Masa z

Noah Masa got the start for the 18U Rhino team's opening game of the Top Collegiate Prospects Invite. He did not dissapoint.

Noah threw a no hitter (7K's and 1 BB), with Jake Mahy catching, against the Central Illinois Indians, paving the way to a 3-0 win for the Rhinos!

Going into his senior year at Lockport Township High School, Noah has a bulldog mentality on the mound. Noah attacks hitters with his 87 mph fastball and keeps them off balance with his latebreaking 1-7 curveball, slider, and changeup.

Not only is Noah a great pitcher, but he is an even better young man and student. Coah Tierney states, "There really aren't enough positive words to describe Noah Masa".

After his no hitter, his teamates took to twitter to congratulate him:

Nick Kaleel: " A big congrats to @noah5115 for tossing a big No-hitter tonight! #nobodybetter #stud #nono #shutout

Cam Powell: "S/O to @noah5115 for the no hitter!! #RB"

Jake Mahy: "S/O to @noah 5115 for tossing the No-No #RB"

Noah responded to his teamates by tweeting " Thanks to all for congratualting me, but it couldn't have been done without the solid studs behind me and my boy behind the plate #RBBaseball".

With Noah's talent, respectfullness, and grades, whatever college scoops him up will be very happy with the young man they are getting!

Congrats Noah and the entire 18U team!

9U & 11U East take 3rd at Triple Crown Omaha Slumpbuster!
Jun 21

9U Omaha 3rd place

Congratulations to both the 9U Rhinos (top left) and the 11U East Rhino (bottom right) for both taking 3rd place in their respective age groups for the D2 bracket at the Triple Crown Slumpbuster tournament in Omaha.

Rhino Baseball was well represented at Omaha where we had four teams playing hard all weekend.

The 14U's went 1-2 in pool play, won their first bracket play game and unfortunately lost a lead in the quarterfinals in the D2 bracket to go 2-3 while in Omaha.

The 11U West team went 1-1 in pool play and lost a hard fought 5-2 game against the Coppell Cowboys out of Texas in their  first D2 bracket play game.

Our youngest team, the 9U's, also went 1-1 in pool play which they then lost to Nebraska Bison in bracket play. Then being placed in the D2 brackets, the 9U Rhinos beat the HitStreak Cardinals out of Denver to get to the semifinals where they lost to the Rockford Big Dogs.

Our 11U East team started off the tournament on a rough note. They went 0-2 in pool play, where they played the eventual number 1 seed out of 45 teams, the Utah Horns.

11U East 3rd place Omaha

The 11U East team battled back in the tournament by winning 3 games in a row in D2 bracket play, including 2 wins against Texas teams. Our guys eventually lost to the eventual D2 champions in the semifinals. The 11U East team also competed in the Slumpbuster Skills Challenge where they competed against 40 other teams from around the country in 3 categories; hitting, throwing, and running. The boys took 1st in the skills competition!

IMG 1214
Not only did all of the boys get a great experience by competing against teams from all over the country but they were able to get a chance to experience the College World Series, which was being held the same week our teams were there. Indiana University was staying at the same hotel as our Rhino Teams and we could not say more about the maturity and friendliness of the Indiana team. They stayed in the lobby to sign autographs, take pictures, and talk with our players.

This was an experience our players will never forget and we cannot wait until we see some of our guys in the same position as the Indiana players were in sometime in the near future!

Tyler Henderson Signs with Millikin University!
May 31

IMG 0997

Tyler Henderson, class of 2013, signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Millikin University.

Tyler is a senior who attends Matea Valley High School. He is a lefty pitcher coming in at 5'9" and 125 pounds. Because of his size Tyler does not over power hitters but he uses his accuracy to control the game.

Millikin University is a NCAA Division III school nickenamed the Big Blue. Tyler will be throwing for Head Coach Josh Manning. Coach Manning entered into his 12th season as the head coach of the Big Blue.

Millikin competes in the CCIW (College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) and will compete against the likes of Augustana College, Carthage College, Wheaton College, and Illinois Wesleyan University.

Congrats from all of us at Rhino Baseball to Tyler and his family!

Congratulations to our 11U West Rhino team who finished in 2nd at the 2013 West Chicago Showdown!

Our boys managed to come back from an opening game loss to Wheaton Blazers to get into the championship game.

The loss to the Blazers came as a 2-10 defeat, however the 11U West team came back and beat the Carol Stream Cougars 13-3, and then beat the Blazers in the quarterfinals by a score of 15-6!

In the semi-finals our boys faced the Bolingbrook rampage which ended in a tight 9-7 victory for the Rhinos.

The McHenry Hurricanes wound up winning the championship in an 8-12 game against our 11U West team.

Very proud of this team to come back after an opening game loss and make it to the championship game!
