Jake Hutchinson Verbally Commits to Roosevelt University!

Jake Hutchinson, a 2017 catcher from Brother Rice, has verbally committed to Roosevelt University!

Built like a rock and also a very good wrestler Jake has the exact mentality behind the dish that any coach would want. He is a hard nosed player and plays the game the right way. 

Jake has the chance to hit it out of the park every time he swings it. As a catcher he is a solid blocker that keeps the run game in check with quick transfers. 

At Roosevelt, Jake will be coached by Steve Marchi. The first ever Head Baseball Coach for the Lakers, Coach Marchi is in his 7th year at the helm. 

Last season Roosevelt went 22-22 overall and 13-16 in the CCAC conference. 

Jake will be joining Rhino alumn Alvin Perez and Jacob Barlev at Roosevelt.

The Lakers play at Standard Bank Stadium which is also home to the Windy City Thunderbolts, a Frontier League team. 

Roosevelt was a top choice to attend for Jake. He plans on going into engineering as a major.

Jordan Jackson Verbally Commits to Missouri Western State!

Jordan Jackson, a 2017 UTIL player from Bolingbrook HS, has verbally committed to Missouri Western State!

Jordan is a physical player who stands at 6'1" and 210 pounds. As a junior, Jordan hit 8 HR at Bolingrbook while also hitting .418 and was 10/10 on stolen bases.

For his size Jordan is very athletic and can play multiple positions including 1B, 3B and RF. He can also pitch as he is in the mid 80's. 

Jordan will be coached by Buzz Verduzco who is in his 18th season as head coach at MWSU, a division II program. Coach Verduzco came from Washington State where he was the primary recruiting coordinaotr for the Division I program. Overal Coach Verduzco has a 501-368 record and has seen three of his players selected in the MLB draft. 

MWSU recently completed a $7 million spring sports complex which includes an all turf infield and lighting for the baseball field. They also have a $10.3 million indoor sports facility that is also home to the Kansas City Chiefs training camp during the summer. 

Jordan will be joining Rhino teammate Cody McArthur at Missouri Western State. 

Great for Jordan and very excited for him and his family. 


DJ Studniarz Verbally Commits to Millikin University!

DJ Studniarz, a 2017 3B/2B from Lockport HS, has verbally committed to Millikin University. 

DJ has a quiet confidence about him and goes about his business. He has the chance to play both 2B and 3B, depending on need. At the plate he has a bit of pop in his bat and tends to find the barrell. 

While at Millikin, DJ will be coach by Brandon Townsend. Coach Townsend has been the head coach since 2013. 

Since arriving at Millikin, Coach Townsend has turned around the program in terms of wins. He has also seen tremendous success in the classroom by his players. The last two years the baseball team has seen the highest GPA out of any male sports at Millikin. 

Playing in the CCIW, Millikin will play the likes of North Central, Illinois Wesleyan, Augustana and Carthage. 

Very excited for DJ and his family. 


Brandon Diedrich Verbally Commits to Dominican University!

Brandon Diedrich, a 2017 MIF/RHP from Neenah HS, has verbally committed to Dominican University. 

New to Rhino Baseball this year, Brandon started to receive a lot of college interest. He has an athletic build with more room to add. In the field he is smooth with ability to change arm slots depending on where the ball takes him. On the mound he has a whippy arm and controls the strike zone. 

Brandon will be coached by Steve Hardman at Dominican. Coach Hardman has been at the helm of the Stars since 2011. Coach Hardman was a pitcher in his day and played at NIU.

The stars play at the $17 million Schaumburg Boomers Stadium which is home to the Frontier League team. 

Very excited for Brandon and his family. The Stars are getting a good one. 


Hunter Murawski Verbally Commits to the University of St. Francis!

Hunter Murawski, a 2017 UTIL player from Reed Custer, has verbally committed to the University of St. Francis. 

Just this past year Hunter helped Reed Custer to a state championship title. On the field he is a "jack of all trades" type player who can pitch, catch and play multiple spot in the field. 

With a tall and lengthy frame Hunter has a lot of room to add additonal size. He also has a loose and whippy arm which with additonal size he could see an added jump in velocity. 

Hunter will be coached by Brian Michalak at St. Francis. Coach Michalak is in his 6th season as the head coach of the Fighting Saints. St. Francis is also Coach Michalak's Alma Mater. 

In 2014 and 2015 Coach Michalak was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. He hold a career recrod of 258-231-2 in the last 5 seasons at USF and 5 years at North Central College. 

Very excited for Hunter and his family and with committment Rhino Baseball has seen 20 of it's 2017 graduates committ to a college program. 


Aidan Anderson Verbally Commits to Robert Morris for Football and Baseball!

Aidan Anderson, a 2017 1B/C from Marian Catholic, has verbally committed to Robert Morris University for football and baseball!

Aidan is a leader on the ball field and will most likely be a 1B in college. As you can see in his picture he brings a smile every time he is around you. 

Also a very good football player, Aidan was an all conference player for Marian Catholic High School and will be playing linebacker for RMU. 

AJ will also be joining his Rhino teammate Tyler Suchy at Robert Morris both on the baseball field and football field. 

On the baseball field Adian will be coached by Jason Becker. Coach Becjer is in his 5th season as head coach and has an overall record of 156-102. 

Congrats AJ!

JP Medick Verbally Commits to Hendrix College!

JP Medick, a 2017 OF from Hinsdale Central, has verbally committed to Hendrix College!

JP is a player with a fantastic frame and a lot of potential. He is a very good outfielder with some pop in his bat. 

In the classroom JP is a high end student. He had mutliple options when it came to continuing his academic and baseball career. 

JP will be coached by Neil Groat who is in his fifth season as the coach of the Warriors. Hendrix is also his Alma Mater. 

In 2015 Coach Groat saw his team beat 4 nationally-ranked teams. He has also been fortunate enough to coach a MLB draft pick. 

JP will be joining Rhino alum Josh Gonzalez at Hendrix. 

In talking with JP he is beyond excited to be attending Hendrix and playing ball there. His parents agree as his mom texted "It's a great fit for him. And thank you and Rhino Baseball for all of your assistance."

Good luck and you have a very bright future agead of you!


Rhino Players Show Well at New Balance & Program 15 Great Lakes Combine

Rhino Baseball players attended the New Balance and Program 15 Great Lakes Region Combine and showed very well. 

Of the 60 players that attended the event at STiKS new facility in Wisconsin, Rhino Baseball had 5 players ranked in the top 10 prospects there. 

1. '19 1B Tyler Brandenburg - Exit velo is 100+

6. '18 RHP Nick Shelton - 6'4" 180lb who is up to 87mph

7. '21 1B/3B Dylan Scafuri - Power LHH

8. '19 SS Matt Watson - Smooth/athletic SS

9. '19 1B Brennan Geers - 6'2" 200lb LHH

The players were evaluated by 3 MLB scout inckuding Butch Baccala who was a MLB scout for 25 years including the Seattle Mariners National Cross Checker. 

Very bright future for allof these players, and all have DI type tools.

Chris Sheputis Verbally Commits to Lakeland College!

Chris Sheputis, a 2017 RHP from Romeoville HS, has verbally committed to Lakeland University!

Chris is a strike thrower who understands how to pitch and utilizes movement and change of speeds. 

As a junior for Romeoville, Chris thew 23 innings while only walking 4 and striking out 14. 

Chris will be coached by Mike Bachar who is in his 6th season as head coach of the Muskies. Lakeland is also Coach Bachar's alma mater.

The DIII Muskies play in the NACC against the likes of Marian, Aurora, CUW, CUC, and Rockford.

Chris is not a mid 80's guy but he does understand how to pitch, mixes offspeeds well and locates. If you can do all of those things you can be a successful pitcher and play college ball.

Jake Brnca Verbally Commits to JJC!

Jake Brnca, a 2017 OF from Coal City HS, has verbally comitted to Joliet Junior College!

Jake is a lefty/lefty who quietly goes about his business and plays hard. Overall, a very good athlete, Jake has also played 1B and pitched but will most likely be an OF in college. 

JJC was on Jake's top 5 list of schools he would like to attend. 

Jake, while at JJC, will be coached by Wayne King who is in his 31st season as the Head Baseball Coach at JJC. Coach King is closing on on his 1050th victory at JJC while also winngin three NJCAA Natonal Championships (1994, 2008, 2012) and three runner-up finishes (1995, 2007, 2015). 

Jake will be coming to JJC at a great time in their history as they just completed a $22.6 million multipurpose facility with a turfed area for indoor practices.

Colin Walton Verbally Commits to South Suburban College!

Colin Walton, a 2017 RHP from Bremen HS, has verbally committed to South Suburban College!

Colin came to the Rhino program this year for help in the recruiting process. 

On the mound, Colin has been up to 85mph and has the ability to spin the curveball. 

Going the junior college route is an ideal fit for Colin as he has the chance to add some more velocity along with adding a quality third pitch. 

He will join Rhino alumn Stephen Hill at SSC. 

The coach of the Bulldogs is Steve Ruzich who is in his 30th season at the helm. In those seasons he has tallied a record of 1048-607. Coach Ruzich was inducted into the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2014. 

In his time Coach Ruzich has seen 21 of his players rafted by Major League teams and five of those have reached the bigs. 

Excited to see Colin's continued progression at SSC. Congrats!

Tyler Suchy Verbally Commits to Robert Morris University

Tyler Suchy, a 2017 INF from Oak Forest HS, has verbally committed to Robert Morris University!

Tyler has been in the Rhino program for the past 2 years and he is one of our favorite players in the program to watch play. He plays with a type of reckless abandon and will run through a wall for his teammates. Tyler is usually covered head to toe in dirt after a couple of innings. 

Robert Morris will be getting a player who can move to multiple spots in the infield. He has the skills to play 3B, SS and 2B. 

He is bringing that reckless abandon attitude to Robert Morris' football team as he will be a two sport athlete in college. 

Tyler will be coached on the baseball field by Jason Becker. Coach Becker is in his 5th season as head coach and has an overall record of 156-102. 

Very excited for Tyler and his opportunity to be a two sport athlete in college.


Raul Flores Verbally Commits to Trinity Christian College!

Raul Flores, a 2017 INF from Oak Forest HS, has verbally committed to Trinity Christian College!

Raul came to the Rhino program just this year and attended the Perfect Game Kernels tournament with us. 

On the field Raul has the chance to be a very good all around player. He has an athletic frame with room to add and showcases good feet and actions. 

Raul will be joining Rhino Wiscosnin alumn Alex Gerhardt while at Trinity Christian. 

The Trolls are coached by Justin Huisman who has been with the program for 8 years and 6 of those years as head coach. Coach Huisman is 158-151-1 at the helm of the program. 

Recently the team has seen an enormous amount of success with conference tournament and national tournament appearances the past 4 years. 

Raul is a fantastic young man and extrmely hard working. 

Excited for his future. Congrats!

Mike Wagner Verbally Commits to Heartland Community College!

Mike Wagner, a 2017 RHP/OF from Downers Grove South, has verbally committed to Heartland Community College!

Wags came to tryouts this fall and right away you could see the untapped potential in him. He is young for a senior and has not come close to physically maturing.

From a crow hop Mike has been able to get it up to 95mph, 6.99 runner, and 90 plus exit vleo. On the mound Mike lives 82-85 and has been up to 88mph. 

The junior college route is a fantastic fit for Mike as he is a player that after two more years of development is going to really take off as a player. 

While at Heartland, Mike will be coached by Brian Furlong who came from Creighton University as Director of Baseball Operations and before that at Iowa in the same capacity. 

Last year Heartland finished 7th in the NJCAA DII National Rankings by going 41-13. 


Heartland does a fantastic job of placing their players into 4 years schools including in 2016 alone to schools such as Illinois State, Mississippi State, Auburn and Western Illinois. They also had the ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA DII Baseball Player of the Year in 2016. 

Mike will be playing at the Corn Crib which Heartland calls home along with the Normal CornBelters which is a professional baseball team. 

Very excited for Mike and this great fit. Looking forward to seeing his continued development and where that takes him.  

JJ Zywiciel Verbally Commits to Concordia University-Wisconsin!

JJ Zywiciel, a 2017 UTIL/RHP from Plainfield East, has verbally committed to CUW!

A fantastic young man, JJ puts the work in at the facility and in the classroom. A very good student JJ is looking to major in pre-med or pre-dentistry. 

On the field JJ has the ability to play both shortstop and second base along with the outfield. He also is a very projectable pitcher on the mound with his tall, lengthy body and lively arm action. 

JJ will be coached by Eddy Morgan who will be going into his fourth year as head coach of the Falcons. Coach Morgan recently led CUW to a program best 25 wins in 2015. 

The Falcons play at Kapco park, which is also home to the Lakeshore Chinooks who are a member of the well known Northwoods League. 

JJ has multiple offers from DII and DIII schools but ultimately felt CUW was the right fit for him for a number of reasons. 

Congrats JJ. Keep working hard!
