GREG BLAESING - President and Director of Player Development

DDpqTIkUMAAx9Nt.jpgGreg graduated from Lockport Township High School in 1999 where he was a 3 year varsity starter and was named Chicago Tribune All-State and Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association All State Player.

After high school, Greg continued his playing career at Illinois State University from 2000-2004.  There he was a 4 year letter winner and a 3 year team captain.  He was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All American.  After college, Greg played for the Gateway Grizzlies in the Frontier League.

Greg founded Rhino Baseball with the vision that players success is in direct relation to their work ethic and belief in themselves. 

Greg  resides in Lockport with his wife April, beautiful daughter Madelynn and his son Lucas

 

ANDREW TEHAKO - Recruiting Coordinator

C5IXbSkUkAAw7Jh.jpgAndrew graduated from D.C. Everest High School in 2005 in which he lettered in both baseball and football, winning the Wisconsin State Championship in the latter. 

He continued his education at DePaul University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with a minor in Management. Upon graduation, Andrew assisted in the creation of TnT Group where he became a proprietary trader as well as the Strategic Allocations Manager and Head of Marketing.

Andrew played for the Everest Merchants in the Dairyland League in Wisconsin. 

Coaching since 2012 Andrew has had the privilege to coach a number of talented players ranging from Division I to Division III players. 

Andrew has been the lead on the Rhino website design and updates, social media efforts, uniform designs, and marketing efforts for Rhino Baseball. He is also the recruiting coordinator for the program and has overseen over 100 players commit to colleges including to teams in the SEC, BIG10, Horizon League and the Ohio Valley Conference.

He currently resides in New Lenox with his wife Mallory and two children, Abigel and Declan. 

CHUCK KOLOTKA - Pitching Instructor

Related imageChuck attended Northern Illinois University after pitching for Reed Custer HS. As of 2018, Chuck is the last pitcher to throw a no hitter for NIU. 

The Oakland Athletics drafted Chuck in the 21st round of the MLB June Amateur Draft. 

In just 2 years Chuck reached AAA where he pitched for the 1983 Las Vegas Stars. That roster included the likes of Larry Rothschild, Kevin McReynolds, Bruce Bochy and Tony Gwynn. The pitching coach for that team was Tom House. 

Chuck's coaching style is high energy and focuses on mechanics and becoming a pitcher, not a thrower. 

 

JEFF STANEK - Head Hitting Coordinator

Jeff played three years in the Arizona Diamondbacks minor league system. He was a four year letterman, team captain, and 1st team Missouri Valley Conference member at Southern Illinois University. He was an All-State player at Lockport Township High School and a teammate of Coach Blaesing.

Jeff has ten years of professional instructions and high school coaching experience. Jeff has coached at Naperville Central, Lockport, and at Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School.

Jeff's philosophy on baseball is to develop a complete player who can succeed at the next level. Jeff currently resides in Bourbonnais with his wife Nicole and has three beautiful daughters Kendal, Kylie, and Kamryn and his son Easton.



GENERAL MCARTHUR, III - Hitting and Fielding Instructor

genGeneral is currently the Athletic Student Success Specialist at Moraine Valley CC as well as asssistant baseball coach for the college as well. He has held the assistant coaching role at Moraine since 2015. 

His main offseason work with Rhino Baseball is working with infielders and outfielders. 

His son, who is also General McArthur, is a Rhino alumn and is currently at Missouri Baptist playing baseball. Before Missouri Baptist he was at Kirkwood CC and was one of the leaders nationally in stolen bases. 

 

MATT HINES - Pitching Instructor

After graduating from Coal City High School in 1999, Matt went to Illinois State University, where he worked out of the bullpen and as a starter from 1999-2001.

Hines was drafted in the 20th Round of the 2002 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs out of Olivet Nazarene University. For 2 seasons, he pitched out of the bullpen for the Arizona Cubs(rookie), Boise Hawks(short season) and Lansing Lugnuts(low-a). In 2004, he was named a Frontier League All-Star while playing for the Windy City Thunderbolts. He spent the rest of the 2004 season playing in the Twins Organization for the Quad City Swing(low-a) and Ft. Meyers Miracle(high-a).

Since 2002, Matt has coached basketball and baseball at both Coal City High School and Wilmington High School. He has coached all levels of high school and junior high basketball. As a varsity assistant baseball coach at Coal City, Matt was a part of 7 regional championships, 2 sectionals championships, and a 4th place finish in state in 7 seasons. Currently the sophomore baseball coach at Wilmington High School, he has been on the coaching staff for 3 regional championships.

Matt has given private lessons for all ages for over a decade and had also coached a fall league team in the CF Swingtown league for 2 years.



BOBBY SMITH - Head of Speed, Strength and Agility, Hitting and Outfield Instructor

His first two years of college Bobby played at Waubonsee CC and then transfered to North Central College. In 2015 at North Central Bobby started 39 games and batted .336 with 5 doubles, 4 triples, and 2 home runs. He was named to the First Team All-CCIW and was Newcomer of the year. In 2016 Bobby improved o his impressive sophomore year and batted .353 with 12 doubles, 4 triples and three home runs. He was names to the Second Team All-CCIW.

After North Central Bobby played in the CSBL for the Oswego Cats and was named Player of the Year.

Graduating with an Excercise Science major from North Central Bobby handles all of Rhino Baseball's speed, strength and agility sessions.  

He also spent time as an assistant coach at North Central. 

MIKE HUGHES - Youth Coordinator

Mike has been a part of the Rhino program since it's inception. 

Graduating from Marist High School Mike lettered in football and then went to Moraine Valley following that. 

Mike has been a baseball coach for the last 9 years and has been in the dugout for high level baseball at every youth age level. 

His demeanor and his experience around youth baseball makes him a perfect fit to be our youth coordinator for the Rhino program. 

 

 

JOE SCAFURI - Operations Manager

Joe is a product of Nazareth Academy where he played baseball for 4 years there, 3 of which were on varsity. 

After Nazareth, Joe continued on to play at College of DuPage. 

Joe has 16 years of coaching experience working with players from the 7u age group all the way up to 18u. 

He currently has a son who plays at Univeristy of Illinois-Chicago. 

Joe handles a lot of the communication to parents for both Rhino Baseball Illinois and Rhino Baseball/Softball in Wisconsin. 

JIM HALL - Advisor

greg-blaesingJim Hall coached at Lockport Township High School for 32 Years.  Coach Hall was head coach for 16 years winning 10 Conference Championships in the prestigious SICA West Conference (Now Southwest Suburban).  Under Coach Hall's direction, the Porters won 448 games over 16 years.  The Porters also won 6 regional titles, made 3 state championship appearances, and won the State Championship in 2005.

Coach Hall has been inducted into the Illinois High School Coaches Hall of Fame, Marist Hall of Fame, and the American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame.

Coach is also currently a board member with the Pitch & Hit Club of Chicago and with the Old Timers Baseball Association of Will County. He is the treasurer of the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association and conducts the annual Plainfield South Showcase which brings over 60 major colleges every year. Throughout his 15 year career as Head Coach at Lockport alone, he has seen over 75 of his players play collegiate baseball.  He is also currently the head coach for Team Illinois.  We are very happy to have Coach Hall aboard as an advisor to Rhino Baseball.

ANDY "SQUEEZE" ZWIRCHITZ - Wisconsin Director of Player Development


Screen Shot 2018 12 24 at 8.16.36 AMAndy started his baseball career while playing at Appleton East High School in Wisconsin.

At Appleton East Andy was named the 1994 Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year. Continuing his baseball career, Andy signed a full scholarship with Northwest Florida Community College.

After playing at Northwest Florida CC, Andy went on to sign a full scholarship letter of intent with the University of Miami Hurricanes.

Being a draft pick of the Cincinnati Reds out of high school and then being a draft pick of the New York Mets out of college, Andy ended up playing for both the Atlanta Braves and the Seattle Mariners organizations as well as numerous Atlantic League teams. 

Andy is also the Fox Valley Area Scout for Prep Baseball Report. 



TROY SCHAEFER - Wisconsin Instructor, Mental Training instructor

Screen Shot 2018 12 24 at 8.15.24 AMTroy graduated from Watertown HS and then attended U.W. Oshkosh where he played baseball for 4 years. In 1994 Troy threw a 6 hit shutout in the semifinals to lead his team to the National Championship.

After graduating Troy went on to become the pitching coach at Ripon College in 2001 where he worked for one of the greatest collegiate coaches of all-time; Gordie Gillespie.

In 2005 Troy was hired as the head baseball coach for Oshkosh North HS and coached there until 2017. He led his team to 7 Regional Championships in 10 years and Sectional Runner-ups 5 times.


 

CODY HEIMAN - Wisconsin Hitting and Defensive Instructor

Cody is an Appleton East High School alumni where he then continued his baseball and academic career at Upper Iowa University.

While at UI Cody played every position on the field except for catcher and first base.

In 2013 Cody appeared in 27 games and had a .915 fielding percentage and a .411 OBP.

Over the years Cody has helped run local youth camps and has expereience as a facility supervisor.


TYLER FRIIS - Head of Wisconsin Speed, Strength and Agility

Screen Shot 2019 01 07 at 3.06.16 PMTyler started his collegiate career at McHenry County College where he batted over .400 his freshman year and .338 his sophomore year.

After MCC he attended the Division I University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

His senior year he led the team in runs scored, base hits, hit by pitch and stolen bases. Tyler graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science.

Tyler now handles all of our Speed, strength and agility for the Wisconsin Baseball and Softball program. 

 

DAVID ASHER - Wisconsin Pitching Instructor

David started his baseball career while playing at University High School in Orlando, FL. Signing a full scholarship

to attend University of Central Florida as a LHP. He was then drafted in the 33rd round by the Cincinnati Reds, and opted out of his scholarship to attend South Florida Junior College.

After his 2 years, he signed a full scholarship to attend Florida International University as a starting pitcher. After his senior year, he was drafted in the 8th round by the Seattle Mariners. David played 5 years with the Mariners at every level. From being a starter to a left handed specialist he learned all facets of the game. 

David still continues to help young athletes to get to the next level. He now resides with his wife and daughter in Menasha.
